Following an incident in 2025 where a worker received burns from an arc-flash during high voltage electrical equipment, WorkSafe QLD have issued the following alert.

WorkSafe’s alert highlights common causes of arc flash events, including unsafe work practices, equipment failure and inadvertent contact with energised parts.

Employers and workers are being urged to prioritise effective risk controls, which include:

• Isolating electrical equipment before work
• Using proper testing procedures
• Implementing safety work method statements
• Ensuring workers have appropriate training and PPE
